My 2 1/2 year old daughter LOVES this CD! And my husband and I really enjoy it, too; it's a great break from a lot of the super cheesy kids' music out there. I ended up buying 5 copies to give as gifts for all the 3 year old birthdays coming up!

This music will keep everyone entertained for a long time. We use it in the car to keep the grandkids happy, but we sing along to the catchy tunes, too. Some children's sing-along CDs are annoyingly cutesy or dumbed down, but this stuff is awesome. The tunes sound like something you'd hear on the radio, but as you really start to listen, you hear the clever lyrics that often have one meaning to kids and another for adults. Sometimes we find ourselves singing "I Need a Nap", "Tantrum" or "(Don't Give Me That) Broccoli" at oddly appropriate moments. Even the little ones sing along. We love all the songs in this collection, plus it has a cute running story in between the songs. The actors and musicians who sing the songs sound like they are having a great time, too!

My 4 year old (and my husband and myself) love this CD (and having the words in the book). We like that's it not just more kid's music and I like having all the different famous artists. We like it so much that we bought 15 copies for Christmas gifts for our friends with kids!

This book is interesting and so is the music. But not one that could be used educationally in a classroom setting. It would be nice if the book had the complete lyrics to the songs. Some of the songs are quite boring.

I've long been a big fan of Sandra Boyton's children's books due to their cute rhymes and vibrant, adorable pictures. Because her rhymes have such a good sing-song rhythm, it didn't surprise me to find that she had transitioned to song.
My daughter absolutely adores this CD and it does have some very clever, cute songs on it. Her favorite is, of course, Dog Train and I have to say that it is a song that makes me smile. The silly concept of dogs riding around on a secret train all night with their heads hanging out of the windows is a rather charming and imaginative flight of fancy. Blues Traveler also does a nice job with this song.
One of the most entertaining songs on the CD is "I Need a Nap" just because the pairing of Weird Al and Kate Winslet seems so strange and yet works out so well. The lyrics can't help but make a parent chuckle.
My favorite, though, is "Evermore", which is a really beautiful tribute to parental love that brings tears to my eyes. It's sung by Alison Krauss, whose plaintive voice is perfect for the subject.
Overall, I think the CD is good but I give it four rather than five stars because I think it's more of a children's CD than something that adults will really enjoy. My daughter also love The Backyardigans and I enjoy their music more than I do the Boynton CDs. That's not to say that they're bad, simply that I find that I grow tired of the Boynton CDs far faster than I do The Backyardigans and, as all parents know, children love to listen to the same songs and watch the same movies repeatedly.
I think it's definitely worth buying the book along with the CD. The pictures--as indeed all artwork by Boyton--are really well-done and adorable. Her animals are not only pleasingly rounded, they also have a very entertaining range of expressions. The book also includes the music and lyrics so it lends itself to sing-alongs with the CD and may help spur reading.
