Playfully endearing!Mar 12, 2010 The students in my library just loved this as a read-aloud. It has a very gentle, calm, yet playful nature to it...not to mention the stellar illustrations. It passed the kid-test with ease!
Kitten's First Full MoonFeb 14, 2010 This book is by Kevin Henkes:
The Kitten saw the moon and thought it was a big bowl of milk. Then she got a bug in her mouth but still she thought the moon was a big bowl of milk. Next she ran thru the sidewalk, garden ,field and pond but still she thought the bowl of milk was a bowl in the sky.
After this she climbed the biggest tree she could find and looked at the pond and thought it was and thought it was another bowl of milk. The kitten then ran down the tree an jumped in the pond and was all wet and very sad. She went back home after this and it was a big bowl of milk waiting for her.
My name is Samantha and I really think this book it is a GREAT book because the kitten never gives up. At the end of the day all the hard work pays off.
Poor kitten!Jan 15, 2010 Kevin Henkes, Kitten's First Full Moon (Greenwillow, 2004)
Kevin Henkes' books never fail to bring the cute, and Kitten's First Full Moon is no exception. The kitten in question mistakes the full moon for a big bown of milk, and spends the book trying to find ways to get to it, failing each time as expected (with a "poor kitten!" refrain attached each time). It's both sadly humorous and adorable. If you've never discovered Kevin Henkes, it doesn't matter what age you are, this is one to look up. Very good stuff. ****

A must-have for children's litDec 04, 2009 It's difficult to review a book like this in fewer words than the book itself, so here is my attempt. This is a fantastically-illustrated short book with two simple lessons: things are not always what they seem, and persistence will pay off in the end. Henke teases an amazing amount of depth out of just two colors. My 3-year-old loves it.

Absolutly ADORABLEApr 22, 2009 I am so impressed with this book. It captivated my 5 year old twin daughters from the first page. What a great idea for a book, a kitten thinking the moon is a sauser of milk; and the adventures the little guy has getting to it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has little ones and enjoys bedtime stories or anytime stories!!
